BARNABY'S BEVERAGE BLOG

Dedicated Drink Dilettante

Over A Month? Really?

Yeah, I just remembered how my blog has been seriously neglected. I had originally intended to upload one new drink a week, buuuuut that’s sort of gone out the window what with my exams and other important crap like playing Minecraft and admiring my friend Sam’s 16,000 and something views on one of his YouTube videos (watch his awesome remix here). ANYWAY, to make up for this, I’m about to upload two new drinks, including something very specials.

Out.

Milk and Two Sugars For Me Please!

Up until recently I’ve been pretty teatotal. Yeah, I just made that word up, but I’m going to say it means that there’s an absence of drinking tea in my life. I decided. Anyway, it’s not that I hate it, it’s just that I never usually have enough time in the morning before school (I’m 15 by the way if you don’t know me) to make a cup of tea, because I’m usually on my way out the door whilst still eating my toast.

So long story short, I don’t mind tea, but I just don’t drink it much.

And so - the Twining’s Breakfast tea!

It was good, the right strength, although I’m not sure I needed the two sugars I put in… Tea always gives me a nice warm belly, and this one didn’t disappoint.

So yeah, this is just a quick update of another drink which I forgot/ didn’t have enough time to upload yesterday (which was International Hot Drink Day).

Cadbury’s Hot Chocolate (yeah, I know, I need a better title…)

Hot chocolate is my favourite drink, end of. Whipped cream and marshmallows take it to a whole new level. Unfortunately, I had neither this time…

I’ve previously had Cadbury’s hot chocolate in cafés before, but it’s always been pretty crap. This is probably because they used cold milk or too much/little powder or something, because this one was awesome! Nice and sweet, not over the top, without the need for any milk or sugar. Proper chocolate taste, with the amount of powder it said to use. Pretty damn good, better than many hot chocolates I’ve had out and about.

Oh, and I forgot to post the Twining’s Breakfast tea and Nescafé Coffee reviews/descriptions, and it’s 11pm, so I’ll post those tomorrow morning.

Night all,

Barnaby

Not A Latte Problems With This Coffee

The coffee of the day is a Kenco Smooth Roast instant coffee, out of a sachet (a hotel room type one) Sure, it’s a cheap coffee, and it’s instant, but that’s the kind of coffee that most people drink!

It’s good coffee actually! It’s got a good flavour, strong but not crazy. I literally know nothing about describing coffee, so this isn’t exactly easy. It was nice. And it’s cheap (or even free if you visit hotels! No seriously, take them all when you visit.) which can only make it better.

Expect more drinks…

‘Making Me Green’ Tea

I decided that the first drink of International Hot Drink Day would be a mug of Twining’s green tea. I’ve only ever had green tea a few times before, and only ever from Wagamama (an excellent Japanese restaurant chain). Although it is a free and unlimited supply there, it was very good, and so expectations were high for this Twining’s cuppa.

I couldn’t have been more disappointed. To be honest, I thought it was awful. It looked dreadful, it’s a yellow-green colour that wouldn’t look out of place in a toilet. It was described as ‘delicate and subtle’, but despite brewing it for the suggested 2 minutes, it was strong and bitter. The overall effect was that it made me feel ill.

Who knows, it might be your cup of tea, but it certainly wasn’t mine.

International Hot Drink Day

I decided this morning that the 7th of May would be International Hot Drink Day. For me at least. I hope that one day it might expand to the world, but for now, I’m just drinking as many types of hot drinks as possible. Why not join in this year (or wait until next!)?

Let the tea/coffee/hot chocolate frenzy begin!
